Summer Reading Program

Kenyon Public Library’s Summer Reading Program will be held every Thursday and Friday in June at 10:30 AM. RAD Zoo (Reptile and Amphibian Discovery Zoo) will be kicking off our program at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 4. Please note the half hour earlier start for this program! (This program is funded in part or in whole with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.)

Our Summer Reading Program is designed for children who have completed 4th grade and younger. However, we welcome kids and adults of ALL AGES to attend the RAD Zoo program on June 4th. For children older than 4th grade, we do not have a structured program but we will have trivia and challenge sheets that will be available any time during June and July. All children that return completed challenges or a completed book report worksheet to the library will receive a prize.

Only children who will be attending the Thursday and Friday programs need to be registered. Even if your child cannot attend all programs we still ask that they are registered so we can plan accordingly. All children age six and younger must be accompanied by an adult. If you have any questions, please call the library at 507-789-6821.

*Registration ends June 1, 2015.

*All Summer Reading Program activities and events are FREE.

Starting on April 10, items on the hold shelf will be held only 7 days. This is a change from Kenyon Public Library’s 10 day hold policy. This is a SELCO region wide decision to maintain consistency among the region’s libraries. Previously, each library had their own period for how long items were on hold. This caused confusion for staff and patrons. The 7 day hold period begins once the item has arrived here at the Kenyon Public Library and you have received either a phone call, e-mail, or SMS text message from the library indicating that your item is available for pick up. If you do not pick up the item within 7 days the item will be returned to the owning library. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the library by calling 507-789-6821 or e-mail

Tax Information

IRS appropriations were significantly cut in the 2015 Omnibus Appropriations bill recently passed by Congress. Due to these drastic cuts in funding to the IRS Tax Forms Outlet Program, the Kenyon Public Library will only be supplied forms 1040, 1040A, and 1040EZ. No instruction booklets or additional forms will be provided to us.

Instructions and additional forms can be obtained through the following: – to view and download – to order tax products to be delivered by mail
1-800-829-3676 – to order tax products to be delivered by mail

These changes only affect federal tax forms. Both the federal forms and state forms have arrived at the library.
