Pre-School Story Time

Story time will resume in September 2018!

Story time begins at 10:30 am on Wednesday and Friday mornings during the months September through May. The same program is offered on Wednesday and Friday of the same week. Story time lasts approximately 45 minutes to one hour. During this time children will listen to two or three books, sing songs, participate in activities, and create a craft revolving around a specific weekly theme. Our story time programs are designed to teach preschoolers creative expression, social skills, listening and comprehension skills, the basics of reading through number and letter recognition, and aid in vocabulary building and cognitive development. This program is designed for children age birth through Kindergarten though all children are welcome to attend with an adult. Daycares are also welcome. Story time is a free program.

2018-2019 Story Time Weekly Themes

Summer Learning Program 2019

“A Universe of Stories” will be the theme for the 2019 Kenyon Public Library’s Summer Learning Program. Toddlers, tweens and teens are encouraged to participate! Book reports, challenge sheets, and boredom busters will be available starting June 3. Prizes will be awarded for completed activities. More information will be coming in Spring 2019!

Pawsome Readers!

Marley’s next visit will be Saturday, October 6 from 10 am to noon!

Pawsome Readers is a children’s reading program offered at the Kenyon Public Library. Children may bring a book from home or pick a book or two at the library to read to Marley, a certified reading dog. Reading to Marley can help build confidence and self-esteem for children that have difficulty reading or a fear of reading aloud. However, all children are welcome to read to Marley. Too young to read? That’s OK! Parents, grandparents, or an older sibling are welcome to read to Marley while the child listens. We offer one-on-one, 10-15 minute sessions depending on availability. For more information, or to sign up for a session, please contact the library at 507-789-6821.

Book-A-Lunch 2018

Starting Wednesday, July 11! Book-A-Lunch will be held weekly on Wednesdays through August 29.

Join us WEDNESDAYS (Note the change in day of week this year!) in July and August at 11:00 a.m. on the grass across from Veterans’ Memorial Park (between Langford Ave. & HWY 56) for Book-A-Lunch!  Kids are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and/or a snack while we read to you in the park. If it is raining or if the grass is wet, we will meet inside the library. Follow our Facebook page HERE for updates if we will meet inside on a particular day.

Adult Book Groups

We have two adult book groups that meet at the library.  One book group meets the last Monday of the month at 1:30 pm and the other group meets the second Thursday of the month at 4:00 pm. New members are always welcome.
