Pre-school Story Time
Story time will resume in September 2017.
Story time begins at 10:30 am on Wednesday and Friday mornings during the months September through May. The same program is offered on Wednesday and Friday of the same week. Story time lasts approximately 45 minutes to one hour. During this time children will listen to two or three books, sing songs, participate in activities, and create a craft revolving around a specific weekly theme. Our story time programs are designed to teach preschoolers creative expression, social skills, listening and comprehension skills, the basics of reading through number and letter recognition, and aid in vocabulary building and cognitive development. All children are welcome to attend with an adult. Daycares are also welcome. Story time is a free program.
“Build a Better World!” is the theme for the 2017 Kenyon Public Library’s Summer Learning Program. Toddlers, tweens and teens are encouraged to participate! Friday June 9, 16, & 23 the library will host story times and activities at 10:30 am. Wednesday June 14, 21, & 28 the library will have STEM stations set up from 10 am to 4 pm for tweens and teens. Participants may come in any time on Wednesdays to complete the challenges. No registration is necessary.

Pawsome Readers is a new children’s therapy dog reading program offered at the Kenyon Public Library. Children may bring a book from home or pick a book or two at the library to read to Marley, a certified therapy dog. Reading to Marley can help build confidence and self-esteem for children that have difficulty reading or a fear of reading aloud. However, all children are welcome to read to Marley. Pawsome Readers is held the first Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to noon. We offer one-on-one, 10-15 minute sessions depending on availability. For more information, or to sign up for a session, please contact the library at 507-789-6821.
Join us Fridays in July and August at 11:00 a.m. on the grass across from Veterans’ Memorial Park (between Langford Ave. & HWY 56) for Book-A-Lunch! Kids are encouraged to bring a blanket and a sack lunch while we read to you in the park.
Adult Book Groups
We have two adult book groups that meet at the library. One book group meets the last Monday of the month at 1:30 pm and the other group meets the second Thursday of the month at 4:00 pm. New members are always welcome.

The annual book sale is held each year in August during Kenyon’s Rose Fest celebration. The sale is located in the city hall council chambers, which is in the same building as the library. The remaining materials that do not sell in the annual book sale are moved into the library for our on-going book sale that continues through November. Please contact the library if you would like more information about the book sale.
We are now taking donations from the public for the 2017 book sale. Donations must be in good, clean condition. This means books are free from mildew, mold and water damage. Book covers cannot be missing. We do not accept any VHS tapes. Textbooks and medical books must not be older than 10 years. DVDs, CDs, and gently used books are appreciated. The sale will be held on August 18 & 19 in the City Hall Council Chambers.
